Community Members:

The 2024 Kaposia Days Grande Parade is scheduled to take place on Friday, June 28, 2024, at 6:30 p.m.  The parade will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m. at the intersection of 12th Ave. N. and 3rd Street N.  (Please be aware that parade participants will be parking/staging on 12th Avenue North and 3rd Street North, and residents who plan to watch the parade from that area are urged to sit on the south corners of the intersection for best viewing.)  Please be mindful of the parade marshals, volunteers, and other officials assisting with the parade as they work to make the parade a success.

The parade will travel south on 12th Avenue North, then east on Southview Boulevard, and then south on 7th Avenue South.

It is the intention of the Kaposia Days Board of Directors to provide a fun and safe parade for the community.  Please be respectful of others.  Please keep a close eye on your children, especially when they run to gather candy and other items.  Safety comes first.

Parade Participants:

Below you will find the parade lineup. Lineup begins at 5:00 p.m.  The parade will begin promptly at 6:30 p.m.

ALL UNITS MUST ENTER AT THOMPSON AVENUE AND 12TH AVENUE NORTH.

Proceed south on 12th Avenue N. and Parade Marshals will direct you towards your lineup position from that point.  Do not attempt to enter the lineup area from another street, as all streets surrounding the lineup area will be barricaded.  Only vehicles that are in the parade will be allowed into the lineup/staging area.  If you are dropping off participants, find a drop off area on a nearby side street.  There are no designated parking areas for participants, so please carpool and plan ahead.  Please be mindful and courteous of the residents.

QUIET ZONE.

There will be a QUIET ZONE at the end of the parade route, specifically the 600 block of 7th Avenue S.   All units are required to turn off music and cease loud noises of any kind.

DO NOT THROW CANDY OR ITEMS FROM YOUR VEHICLE OR FLOAT.

This is for safety reasons!  Nothing can be thrown from a vehicle/float/trailer, whether it is moving or not.  Items must be handed out by walking participants near the curb so that we make sure children don’t run out into the street to retrieve items.  This rule will be strictly enforced.

PLEASE SHOW RESPECT TO OTHER PARTICIPANTS AND OUR COMMUNITY.

As we know, it has been a stressful year for everyone, and some folks may still not be comfortable being up close and personal when having a conversation with others.  Be respectful of those who still prefer to social distance or wear a mask.  Also, please show respect to our community and residents, particularly by parking properly on side streets and not leaving trash or other items in yards.

RAIN OR SHINE, THE PARADE WILL GO ON!

The parade will go on whether rain or shine and will only be cancelled if there is severe weather.  Our police department will inform our parade marshals of any severe weather threat and a decision will be made at that point.

HAVE FUN!

Thank you for joining us in our parade!  Happy Kaposia Days!
